1. Work Out

This is kind of a no-brainer.

There’s no big secret to getting strong and healthy. It’s actually quite simple – you need to hit the gym and workout if you want to achieve that nice toned body.

Setting aside time to exercise everyday will be so beneficial to your health and happiness!

When you exercise, your body releases endorphins, which are chemicals that can promote a positive mood and drive more energy to your body.

Daily exercise has also been proven to help reduce stress, which is something I’m sure ALL of us mama’s could benefit from.

If you can’t make it to the gym everyday, don’t worry! There are a ton of fun, at-home workouts you can try!

2. Create A Routine

lisa - create a routine
Every mom knows the importance of establishing a good routine and if you take this same approach and apply it toward fitness, you’ll get the same results.

Making exercise a part of your daily routine will create more of a habit and take the guesswork out of it for both you and your family.

Not only are routines dependable and predictable, but they can help a household run more smoothly and give everyone an idea of what to expect for the upcoming week.

Everyone thrives on consistency, especially kids!

Having a good routine and including exercise in it will help you achieve your goals by setting an expectation and helping you avoid meltdowns and other kid-related landmines.

Most fit moms I know follow a set schedule and everyone benefits from of it. Routines work!

3. Wake Up Early

lisa - wake up early

Every mom needs some “me” time and if that has to be at the crack of dawn, so be it.

Besides, early risers are the people who make things happen.

Early morning workouts tend to be best for most busy moms because it gives us the opportunity to exercise without distraction.

We all know how our days can sometimes get railroaded by unexpected things – a sick kid, someone forgot their homework, errands, etc.

An early morning workout sets a standard for the rest of the day and helps keep that routine you’ve worked so hard to create, run smoothly.

Exercise is a natural energy booster and getting it done early in the morning can also increase your mental clarity for up to 10 hours.

Also, people who get up early are generally able to fall asleep faster and tend to get a better quality sleep, which brings me to my next point…

4. Make Sleep A Priority

If you’re an early riser, you know how important it is to get a good night’s sleep.

This can be difficult, especially if you’ve got small kids in the house, but it’s not impossible.

I’m sure you know the side effects that come along with lack of sleep and you’d probably agree with me when I say they’re not good.

To rattle off a few, we’re talking weight gain, fatigue, increased stress, impaired judgement, and a foggy brain. Nobody likes feeling tired and stressed out.

Try going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night and see how much that helps!

5. Eat Like A Fit Mom

lisa - eat like a fit mom
Contrary to what you might think, staying fit is not just about eating fruits and veggies for every meal.

Actually, if you’re exercising regularly, your body needs more fuel than you probably think it does.

If you’re constantly hungry and operating at an extreme calorie deficit, you’re more likely to grab whatever food you can get, rather than give your body the nutrients it needs.

Eating the right food, and lots of it, is the key to staying on track and feeling energized.

I designed my free 24-Hour Meal Plan to show you what I normally eat in a day and how you can design your meals the same way. It’s all about feeling good!

6. Plan Your Meals

lisa - plan your meals
Think about how much you eat on a normal day, and then multiply that by the number of people in your family. That’ll give you a general idea of why meal planning is so important.

Meal planning for the week will help you stick to your budget, reduce the time you spend in the grocery store, and allow you to enjoy nutritious meals.

It’s the difference between hitting the drive through and having a balanced meal instead.

It pays to take a few minutes on a Sunday night to plan out your meals for the upcoming week.

If you’re not a whiz in the kitchen, don’t sweat it. Simple meals are often the best kind!
