9 Ways to Boost Your Immune System

Getting sick is anything but fun.

  1. Exercise Regularly

Turns out there’s yet another reason to get your sweat on!

Studies suggest that physical activity not only boosts your metabolism but your immune system too!

Researchers believe exercise clears away sick cells and boosts the growth of healthy ones. These healthy cells are better able to fight foreign bodies and keep you feeling your best.

 2. Eat Plenty of Plants

Your diet probably has the biggest impact on boosting your immune system.

The vitamins, minerals, and probiotics you get (or don’t get) from your diet are super important.

Eating a healthy and balanced diet full of plant-based foods is the best way to ensure you’re getting enough of the right vitamins and minerals.

Your body needs a variety of healthy foods to keep your gut and immune system functioning at its best.

Since 70 percent of all your cells that make up the immune system are in the gut, eating healthy foods and plenty of probiotics can help keep your immune response strong.

On the other end of the spectrum, eating lots of junk food weakens your gut and your immune system.

A poor diet encourages the growth of unhealthy bacteria and yeast; making you feel sick, gain weight, and not happy.

Do yourself a favor and eat a healthy vibrant diet full of fruits and veggies. Your gut and immune system will thank you!

 3. Manage Your Stress

Stress, big and small, can weaken your immune response.

Studies have found that when you’re stressed out, you produce less natural killer cells–the type of cells that fight off infection and illness.

It can be super hard to manage stress, especially when it comes unexpectedly, but here are some ways to help you chill out a little more!

  • Go for a walk or workout
  • Take some deep breaths
  • Meditate or do yoga
  • Keep a gratitude journal
  • Laugh (more on this later)
  • Find a friend or support group to talk to
  • Take time for YOU each day

Sleep is one of the best things you can do to boost your immune system.

There’s a reason why sleep can help you feel better! Sleep is our bodies way of cleansing and repairing the body.

Getting enough quality sleep can help your immune system run properly. Make it a priority!

Sounds obvious, and you might be thinking, “Who doesn’t wash their hands?”

Surprisingly, many people don’t! According to one survey’s findings, 62% of men and 40% of women don’t wash their hands.

Another study found that 95% of people who do wash their hands are doing it wrong.

Make sure you wash your hands after being in a public place and wash them with plenty of soap and hot water.

Use hand sanitizers often too. This will stop the spreading of germs and keep your immune system safe.

 6. Laugh

Yep, you read that right! Laughing can actually boost your immune system!

Pretty cool, right?

Remember how I mentioned those natural killer cells and how they fight off infection in the body? Laughter increases those types of cells!
