After having her daughter, Melanie decided she wanted to make some changes in her life. Due to her hard work and determination, Melania is 95 lbs down. Find out how she did it and read about her tip for starting out making your own lifestyle change, too!
Q: When did you start your journey?
A: I started my journey after having my daughter April 2017 I began the 15-Day Challenge in May 2017 weighing 250 lbs.
Q: What made you want to make a change?
A: I wanted to be able to keep up with my daughter and not be sluggish when she started getting mobile. My goal was for her to grow up seeing an active, beautiful, strong momma, not a mom who is too overweight to play.
Q: What tips do you have for others starting out?
A: My best tip is to keep trying, even if its 15 minutes of working out… next week try 30 minutes, then 45 minutes. It’s hard being a mom, but you need to find time for you to be happy. When you’re happy, your child and everyone around you feels it.
Q: What have been some of your biggest obstacles you’ve had to overcome?
A: My biggest obstacle was finding time, but my husband is amazing. We rotate every other day to workout after he gets home from work. Without his support, I’m not sure I would’ve gotten this far and strong.
Q: What are some of your go-to favorite meals?
A: We are dairy-free, which is huge. Just cutting dairy I dropped 10 lbs and wasn’t bloated anymore. Dairy causes inflammation. We are big fans of ground turkey. You can make everything out of it and sneak veggies in it. I love turkey meatballs with garlic zucchini noodles.
Q: What are some go-to supplements that have helped?
A: I’m breastfeeding and take the IdealRaw Protein Powder after my workouts and sunflower lecithin to prevent clogs in my breasts. I still take my SmartyPants prenatal vitamins, too.
Q: What are some of our biggest victory?
A: My biggest victory is getting this far! 95 lbs down is amazing. I feel so happy, so strong, and no longer embarrassed and tired. I can keep up with my super active toddler.
Q: How much weight/inches have you lost?
A: It took me 9 months to lose 95 lbs, and since then I’ve been getting stronger gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, so don’t be scared about that scale going up. The scale doesn’t always show your progress.
